I've always liked the BioTrue Hydration Boost brand and I'm glad we were finally able to stock them. This brand actually launched the very first preservative free contact lens drop on the market - it was a long time coming and we're glad it's here!

For context, there are three preservative-free BioTrue Hydration Boost products:

• PF lubricant drop in individual vials
• PF lubricant in an MDPF bottle (white cap)
• PF contact lens drop in an MDPF bottle (green cap)

The contact lens drop is packaged just like the lubricant drop (bottle version), but you can tell it apart by the green cap. The ingredients are nearly identical. However, the language on the box and label are quite different and even some of the ingredients are named differently though we believe them to be the same (e.g. glycerin versus glycerol, and hyaluranon versus sodium hyaluronate). This is because of a strange anomaly in the regulatory world - eye drops are regulated as drugs, but lens wetting drops are regulated as medical devices (as are all contact lens solutions). 

I do not use this lens drop myself. I wear scleral lenses and I don't really get along with any wetting drops or artificial tears except very thin ones. But I would be very interested to hear others' experiences. It is labeled for use with RGP lenses, which means it's safe to use on sclerals.

Biotrue Hydration Boost Contact Lens Rehydrating Drops is a sterile, preservative free, buffered, isotonic, aqueous solution that contains borid acid, sodium borate, potassium chloride, erythritol, poloxamine, glycerol and hyaluronan.

Uses

To lubricate and rewet contact lenses.  Biotrue Contact Lens Drops are indicated for use to lubricate and rewet soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses, including silicone hydrogel as well as SA and FSA RGP contact lenses during wear. The product may be used with daily or extended wear, and disposable lenses. 

Warnings

Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient in this product. 

Precautions

• Replace cap after using
• Store solution at room temperature
• Use before the expiration date marked on the carton and bottle.
• Discard any remaining solution within 90 days of opening.
• Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.

When using this product

• Always follow the product directions for use. Failure to follow product directions may lead to vision loss. 
• Visit your eye care practitioner regularly.
• Always wash and dry hands before handling lenses
• Biotrue Contact Lens Drops will not disinfect your lenses
• To avoid contamination, do not touch the tip of container to any surface. Replace cap after using
• Do not alter the special bottle, the tip opening or the liner inside the cap which maintain sterility without preservatives

Stop use and ask a doctor if you experience any of the following:

• Eyes stinging, burning, itching (irritation) or other eye pain
• Comfort is less than when the lens was first placed on eye
• Abnormal feeling of something in eye (e.g. foreign body, scratched area)
• Excessive watering (tearing) of the eyes or unusual eye secretions
• Redness of the eyes
• Reduced sharpness of vision (poor visual acuity)
• Blurred vision, rainbows, or halos around objects
• Sensitivity to light (photophobia)
• Dry Eyes

Directions

To lubricate and rewet contact lenses, follow these steps

• During lens wear, remove the cap, place 1 or 2 drops in the eye and blink 2-3 times as needed
• If the lens still does not feel comfortable, add another drop

To help prevent deposit buildup:

• Place 2 drops in each eye and blink 2-3 times, 4 times a day
